Burwash – Christ the King

Burwash, St Anne’s Green, East Sussex

A simple brick church of the late 1960s, notable for dalle de verre glass by Charles Norris OSB.

The church was built in 1968, from designs by Messrs Lanner Ltd (Catholic Building Review, 1969). It has an apsed sanctuary with circular top light, lined internally with raised profile concrete blocks. Continuous clerestory with dalles de verre glass in abstract patterns and bright colours by Charles Norris OSB of Buckfast Abbey. West window Christ in majesty, again bright colours. A modest and homely building.
