National Core Group

A national core group exists to explore how ministry and outreach to non-churchgoing Catholics might be developed. Group members draw from their own experiences of working with non-churchgoing Catholics to assist the ongoing work of the Department for Evangelisation and Catechesis.

Diocesan Pilot Project

As part of the 'Crossing the Threshold' project it was decided that a parish-based pilot project was needed to explore how best parishes in England and Wales might be supported to plan and initiate local evangelisation, with a specific focus on ministry and outreach to non-churchgoing Catholics.

Crossing the Threshold was a national tour supporting outreach and ministry to non-churchgoing Catholics. The tour was launched in York on 12 November 2011 and was followed by highly successful days in Birmingham, Crawley, Westminster, Cardiff and Liverpool.

The Crossing the Threshold national tour kicked-off with a resource day in York on Saturday 12 November 2011. Its purpose was to support churchgoing Catholics to reach out and minister to baptised Catholics who rarely or never attend Mass. The event at English Martyrs Church brought an estimated 140 people together from across the area for a time of prayer, fellowship and discussion.
