Red Wednesday

Christian persecution was under the spotlight just before Advent on Red Wednesday. Today's Advent Calendar image was taken just outside Westminster Cathedral. This is the only image in our calendar that is a colour image. The red light shines powerfully.

Relic of Pope St Clement I

The relic of first century Pope Saint Clement I - discovered in a waste disposal warehouse in East London - was returned to the Catholic Church in June this year. Today's Advent Calendar image shows Archbishop Stack receiving the relic from James Rubin, owner of Enviro Waste.

Nativity in Manger Square

Our eyes turn to Bethlehem on Christmas Eve as we have journeyed to Bethlehem in anticipation of the birth of Our Lord and Saviour. The image for the final day of Advent was taken around Orthodox Christmas in early January. The scene is, fittingly, the nativity setting in Manger Square.
