A large church in a stripped Romanesque style, with much bare wall, owing something to the Art Deco style of the 1930s. 

Like that of St John Vianney, the establishment of the parish was driven by the need to ease the pressure on schools belonging to St Cuthbert’s parish. The school here accommodated infants and juniors, and juniors from St Cuthbert’s. The parish was established in 1947, when a temporary church was built using voluntary labour in the parish. Speaking at the opening of this church in August 1947 Bishop Flynn said: ‘We need churches. I know there is a constant complaint of empty pews…whatever may be true of other communions, that is not true of Catholics…In Blackpool alone I need to provide two or three more churches as soon as possible. I have opened five temporary churches of this kind in the last two or three years. I want others thorough the length and breadth of this large diocese’.

The temporary church was replaced by the present building in 1959-61, built from designs by Sandy & Norris of Stafford. The church is of brown brick executed in a blocky style with much bare wall which owes something to the Art Deco style of the 1930s. The west front is gabled and has a tall inset arch with the entrance and a circular window above. Interior not inspected.
