A plain building of the mid-1970s, designed as a church hall, serving a postwar housing estate.

St Joseph’s was established as a separate parish in 1963, principally to serve the new Warndon housing estate in the northeast of Worcester. A school was opened in the same year and Mass was at first celebrated in the school building. The present church was built in 1976. It was designed as a church hall, but the intended church was never built.The presbytery, a bungalow on the site, was built around the same time.

Description

A simple astylar rectangular building under a pitched roof, with a lower narthex and a short sanctuary. The walls are faced with pink brick laid in stretcher bond and the roofs are covered with concrete tiles. The gabled west wall of the narthex has a wide central doorway with a carved figure of St Joseph above. The window openings are rectangular with uPVC frames. The interior has not been inspected; photographs on the parish website show it to have bare brick walls to the nave with laminated timber trusses supporting the main roof and simple modern timber fittings.
