A modest, functional brick church of the 1970s with laminated roof trusses, on a large and prominent site.
Before the building of the present church Mass was said in the Town Hall at Lydney. The church is a design and build construction provided by Messrs Lanner of Wakefield, and was built in 1977. It is served from Coleford (qv).
The church is built on a traditional longitudinal plan. It is a small, light brown brick building with glazed west gable. Over the west end is a small, bellcote-like feature with a copper-covered spike; it contains no bell and thus has no real function other symbolically suggesting that this building is indeed a church. There is a flat canopy in front of the entrance porch. Within the narthex are a kitchenette and WC. The church is lit by tall, plain rectangular uPVC windows on its long faces. It is covered with concrete tiles.
The interior comprises a single, aisleless space, with laminated timber trusses marking the bays. An oval stained glass window is set into the east wall. There are no fittings or furnishings which require particular mention.
