A small post-Vatican II church built on a fan-shaped plan.
The church is an offshoot from Our Lady and St Edward’s, Fulwood, and was built in part to serve the adjoining school. Bishop Foley laid the foundation stone, and blessed and opened the church on 11 November 1979. The architects were Harry Walters & Livesey.
Description
Pale brick with a prominent concrete tile roof. The entrance is marked by a projecting porch with a sheer brick wall incorporating a painted Christus Rex, steep monopitch roof behind. The church is broadly fan-shaped on plan, with back lighting to the altar. A number of furnishings were commissioned for the new church.
