Sefton – St Raymond (chapel-of-ease)

Higher End Park, Sefton, Liverpool 30

A functional design of the 1970s.

The Sefton Estate adjoins the hamlet of Netherton, and both saw major residential development after the last war. St Raymond’s was built in 1973 as a chapel-of-ease to St Benet, Netherton. Both buildings were designed by W. J. Vis. The body of the church is a windowless red brick flat-roofed rectangle, on which sits a large square lantern with a pyramidal roof, set diagonally to the main body of the building. Interior not inspected.
