Wadebridge – St Michael

Trevanson Street, Wadebridge, Cornwall

A functional post-war structure close to Wadebridge town centre.

From 1926-32 one of the Canons Regular from Bodmin said Mass in the coffee room of the Commercial Hotel, Wadebridge. The Town Hall and the British Legion Hall were also used for this purpose until 1947, when the present church of St Michael was blessed and opened by Bishop Grimshaw on 23 July.

The church is a utilitarian blockwork structure with a corrugated cement sheet clad roof. The interior has not been inspected; the photograph above (taken from the parish website) shows a simple space, seemly but not appearing to contain furnishings of special importance.
